Design and Construction Philosophy

Customer Service

We're a full-service custom home builder, which means we also offer in-house drafting and design. Bring us your ideas, sketches, or pictures and we'll create a complete set of drawings. Already have a set of blueprints? Wishon & Carter will work with you or your architect to transform your dreams into reality. At the heart of our customer interaction is the continual focus on providing what customers uniquely desire in their dream home. Our custom homes are all original designs with personalized floor plans.

Wishon & Carter takes pride in being easy to work with, which makes the design and construction process much more enjoyable for you. We are open-minded and listen to all of your ideas, every step of the way. We take the time to educate all of our clients about cost saving ideas as well as eco-friendly solutions. And most of all, we follow through on every commitment made.

Trust

Our design philosophy could be described as customer owned design. We encourage design ownership for the individual client so that you feel that your home could have only been built for you. To achieve this requires trust, open dialogue, and a deep understanding of your needs. We fully expect design development to continually evolve. This takes patience. But this evolution, where many plan iterations are modified before reaching a final unique design, is the major trust building exercise between Wishon & Carter and you, the client. Unlike many builders – and unlike all plan designers – we do not require you to enter into a design contract. This is a risky proposition for us, but it reinforces the reputation of integrity we have built.

Every home we build has been site specific. Since our Project Managers lead both the design and management, they ensure that each unique design is realistic. Combining construction and design knowledge drives us towards creative practicality: a process that results in a thoughtful home whose uniqueness means its practicality will never be confused with boring.

Quality

After construction begins, you will definitely see the difference between a Wishon & Carter project and that of other builders. Your Project Manager will remain your sole contact – your project is not handed off to a superintendent or other staff member.

Your Project Manager will meet with you on site during key phases of your project. Many of these meetings focus on maintaining the design integrity of the home. As you stand in your future great room, you will envision the location and detail of the built-ins much clearer. At this point the details are sketched out and finalized – many times on the unpainted drywall. Similar to carving your name in an isolated tree, personally seeing the creative process gives the home a personal feeling that could never be achieved sitting in an air-conditioned office.

Since our Project Managers stay involved through all phases of construction, they intimately monitor the quality of the project. The subcontractors that we use for plumbing, mechanical, and electrical have each been with us for over 30 years. They are more than subcontractors – they are members of our team. The carpenters on our jobs are Wishon & Carter employees, not subcontractors. This means we perform all of our own framing, trim work, cabinetry, vanities, and built-ins. Our structure allows each crew leader to focus on production while the Project Manager focuses on customer service. Our craftsmanship is our biggest point of pride, ensuring that the realization of a design will be as successful as creating a design on paper.
